Full Design Service
A Full Design service takes the project from concept to installation and completion.
The initial consult involves a site analysis, client interview and formulation of several concept plans each with functional design solutions. From there preferred concept plans will be developed into a preliminary design draft detailing layout, particular plant varieties, hardscaping components and an approximate installation cost. From there a Master Plan document which will include a planting plan, hardscaping quantities, specifications and construction detail drawings for sub-contractors to follow.
The Process
INITIAL CONSULT AND CONCEPT PLANS
An initial consult on site. This involves a site analysis, client interview and formulation of several concept plans each with functional design solutions.
A SITE ANALYSIS enables us to identify problems, document existing topography, site orientation and climactic considerations.
A CLIENT QUESTIONNAIRE will gather information on desired functions of the landscape discussing your ideas, preferences and wish list for your outdoor space, whether it be to entertain, relax or create privacy. What plants, colours and hardscaping materials you have preference for and how can the interior style of your home be reflected in the exterior space.
From these insights we find specific design solutions to address any problems identified by drafting two different concept plans. These concepts will include optimal positioning of trees, garden beds and retaining walls and delineating areas of traffic. Preferred location of hardscaping elements such as water features, pergolas, courtyards and swimming pools.
Fee: $395 + GST
Step 2
PRELIMINARY PLANS
In consultation with our clients, the favoured concept plan ideas will be further developed into a preliminary plan. These plans will detail the layout, specific plant species, hardscaping elements, dimensions and material type. This may also (if preferred) include perspective drawings with reticulation and lighting overlays.
Drawings are charged at $125 + GST an hour, and any final changes will be discussed and incorporated prior to the next stage. A preliminary quotation for installation will also be provided.
Step 3
MASTER PLAN
Once a preliminary design is decided upon, it can be developed as a Master Plan document. This will include a planting plan – detailing the type, size and quantities of plants, hardscaping quantities, specifications and construction detail drawings for sub-contractors to follow. Following the presentation, payment is made on the handover of the plans. Prices will vary depending on the site’s size and complexity of the design required. Drawing is charged at $125 + GST per hour. If HLD is to be contracted to project manage the installation from a Preliminary Plan a Master Plan may not be necessary.
A Master Plan is useful if you have preferred contractors or wish to do some of the work yourself.
Step 4
INSTALLLATION
To project manage the install HLD will commence the tendering process gaining quotes from various preferred sub-contractors to install the design to required specifications adhering to the highest quality of workmanship.
Upon selection of the team a timeline will be provided to the client and HLD will project manage the install and ensure all phases are completed and signed off before the next phase commences. This will often involve coordinating earthworks, services, and managing various contractors from hardscaping to reticulation. It may also involve ensuring council regulations are adhered to and adequate tree protection zones are put in place.
